New Jersey Charge Up New Jersey Electric Vehicle Rebate Program – Strongest in the nation.

Highland Park, NJ: With the launch of the electric vehicle rebate program last week, “Charge Up New Jersey”, New Jersey now has the most comprehensive rebate program in the country.

New Jersey residents can visit a website to see all the eligible vehicles and corresponding rebates available. Vehicles are eligible for up to a $5,000 rebate for a purchased or leased electric vehicle. Phase 1 launched last week and establishes an online application for a post-purchase rebate. Phase 2, expected to launch later this year will provide a point of sale rebate, making it even easier to purchase or lease an electric vehicle.

Under a new law signed in January by Governor Murphy, the rebate program provides a minimum of $300M over the next ten years for electric vehicle incentives. “New Jersey has aggressive but necessary goals to get about 300,000 more of these cars on our roads over the next several years in order to meet our emissions goals and clean our air”, said Pam Frank, CEO of ChargEVC. She continued, “The pandemic has underscored the intersection of health, poverty and pollution. In addition, the state needs a path back to economic prosperity that is fair for everyone in this state. Who could have seen the fortuitous timing of this program launch?”

The Charge Up program is one of many actions that the Murphy Administration has taken to reach the state’s clean energy goals of 100% clean energy by 2050. The transportation sector is responsible for almost half of the greenhouse gas emissions in New Jersey. Electric vehicles are a proven technology, and widespread adoption of “batteries on wheels” is necessary in order to meet state greenhouse gas emissions air pollution reduction and other state goals.
