ChargEVC-NJ Announces Involvement in National EV Charging Initiative, Gathering Key Stakeholders Around The Country to Impact President Biden’s EV Market Buildout
Highland Park, NJ—It’s time for a national conversation on the electric mobility future. In recognition of the challenges of quickly decarbonizing transportation, the EV Charging Initiative has been established by eMobility Advisors. ChargEVC-NJ is one of fourteen organizations on board.
The purpose of the National EV Charging Initiative is to provide the foundation for a partnership that involves all relevant stakeholders and provides the details of how all parties involved would help deploy a national charging network for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles needed to meet aggressive air quality, climate, job creation, and equity goals. It will highlight measures taken in the United States and encourage stronger commitments from each other and from the federal government.
Key elements of the initiative are as follows:
- National EV Charging Initiative signatories demonstrate intent and commitment to collaborate by signing onto a joint MOU.
- Signatories will collaborate to develop guiding principles to shape the foundation for collaboration.
- An EV summit will be held this fall to share the progress being made and make public commitments to increase the impact and scope of the Biden administration’s groundwork on a national charging network.
- The Signatories will work together on an action plan that will identify private actions and federal and state policies to speed the deployment of a national charging network for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles.
The timeline of all these elements is relatively short. All the MOU signatures will be finalized by Memorial Day of May 2021. The guiding principles are set to be completed by Labor Day in the summer of 2021. The EV Summit will commence in the fall of 2021 and the commitments will be announced at this time as well. The action plan will take place six months from the MOU and end in November of 2021.
“We are excited to join this important initiative. Time matters, emissions don’t wait and coordination at the national level is key to efficient and fast market development”, says Pam Frank, CEO of ChargEVC-NJ.
EMobility Advisors are organizing the initiative with help from the NRDC with planning, organization, and execution.
